It is OK to be OK

I was on a slow run recently and looking for inspiration for my next blog post. I was bumping into writer’s block, and my pace on the trail wouldn’t win any medals. But I trucked along the path and thought about my next reflection.

I finished the run and still didn’t have a topic to write about.

I didn’t have anything witty to write about and lacked a motivational story to share. I also didn’t manage my schedule well this week; I only hit the gym once and was stung by a bee on my tongue. It wasn’t my best week.

Then it came to me.

Sometimes, we are so busy keeping up with the Joneses that we must have all the latest flare, answers, energy, blog posts, etc.

Sometimes, it is OK just to be OK. Sometimes, just showing up is winning. That’s all I have, but that's OK.

Typically, this is a failure, disappointment, or letdown. Not anymore. I had a good week, but not a great week. I didn’t accomplish anything earth-shattering, but I didn't have any areas I wish I could do-over.

Next week will be better because I will continue to show up. I have a new pair of Adidas and have the opportunity to make a difference in my community. I will continue to strategically use my time on what matters.

And if the best I can do is just OK, I am OK with that. I don’t need anyone to check up on me. I am OK. I just didn’t have my best week, but I am OK.

We don’t have to be Morgan Freeman in Lean on Me. We just have to be us. We are good enough, and we can do it! Have a great week!

Have a great week; if you don’t, that is OK.
